Launch of NZGIS4EM group, Wellington, 7th March 2018

SIBA members are invited to join the New Zealand Geographic Information Systems for Emergency Management (NZGIS4EM) Committee and the Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) to celebrate the launch of the NZGIS4EM group.

The NZGIS4EM Group was formed in 2017 by 20+ motivated geospatial practitioners, following recent major emergencies in NZ where spatial information proved critical to managing the incidents but could have been more effective with prior planning and preparation.

NZGIS4EM will be a shared voice for the use of geographic information systems in emergency management in New Zealand. The group will lobby, educate and advise by providing support, guidance, recommendations and best practice for GIS and Emergency Management professionals, aligned to the Coordinated Incident Management System’s (CIMS) purpose and principles.
